Happy Birthday

Thursday, May 23, 2013

Time sure does fly! My 2nd Mother's Day has already come and gone and Danika learns more and more every day! She is already 17 months old! She talks a lot, but mostly in her own little language with her finger pointed at someone or her hands waving around! She still sees a Developmental Specialist, Occupational therapist and Pulmonologist. They all say she is doing awesome! The Developmental Therapist suggested that we go to a place called The Hanger to get her fitted for orthotics that are suppose correct her walking so that she stops toe walking. Danika also tends to curl her toes under while she walks which often makes her fall forward. I still think it is to early to go that route. I'm still hoping she stops toe walking all on her own before she turns 3 years old.

The therapists gave me suggestions to help her. Things like standing her on a pillow or couch to help her balance. Or taking her to the park and having her walk up a grass hill. Things to flex her ankle up. I still sit her in my lap and flex her Achilles tendons while we watch a movie.

Danika climbs on everything and loves swimming! She has no fear! She may fall and hit her head but she gets right back up and tries again! I'm not sure where that stubbornness comes from! ;)

We work on sign language with her a lot. She knows how to sign the words "more, pottie and please". Were still working on the words "water, bottle and thank you".

Ready for church!

Aunt Jesse went to Mexico and came back with 3 dresses for Danika, so we had a fashion show trying them on :)

It never fails! Every time I'm trying to make lunch for us, she waits next to the fridge for me to open it and climbs right in!

Mmmmm lemon juice

Melissa and Danika hanging out after breakfast at Mimi's :)

She is totally in that phase where she wants to climb up on top of everything!

I'm the Queen of the world!!!!!

Always trying to climb on top of the surround sound speaker! Don't look Uncle Craig!

Trying on mama's sandals

Apparently pulling the toys out wasn't enough! She wanted to sit with the toys!
Hanging out with mom at her softball game

Daddy and Danika going to church while mom goes to work

One of her new favorite things to do is to play in the only 3 cabinets that do not have child proof locks on them yet!

The Occupational Therapist at the house working with Danika

Play time at the park! She loves it!

Swimming! She loves it so much, I should really try to teach her to hold her breath and swim.

Grand-dad at the church during water day with Danika :)

Time for pottie training! I'm probably starting very early, but I was told that when she starts hiding in corners, etc. to do her business then it's time to start training.....so we started! She likes using her princess pottie and listening to it sing!

Grandma Gurule's pottie doesn't sing! :(
Danika's version of popcorn and a movie!

Uh ohhhhhh!!!!!
D stealing strawberries from Lilly at Grandma Colon's house

She's always opening the entertainment center and pulling out every single movie she can find!!! Some days I just give up on keeping my house clean!

The Developmental Therapist suggested getting her puzzles to work with, so here's her first puzzle we got her

Daddy was super tired this morning and D wasn't letting him out of her sight no matter how tired he was!

My little fish.... :)

This pic is an example of her talking and pointing like she's trying to yell at someone! I keep trying to get it on video but she does it to fast!

She loves the new Minnie Mouse chair daddy got her! :)

We had a barbecue/swimming party for Jess and Kel's birthday at the house with the family! Lot's of fun! When it was time to sing happy birthday, it turned into a birthday celebration for me too! It was a surprise because my birthday was in January!

Sister's!!!!!!!! :)

This is a video I took while Danny's grandparent's were in town from New York. Lilly and Danika bouncing around basketballs :)
